Integration and application of knowledge in civic, social and personal contexts
For my internship class, I joined an audio apprenticeship at SpyHop. I was aware that SpyHop had this apprenticeship for the longest time. Now I have a good opportunity to take the class.
This was a 4 month class for students who are interested in audio engineering. I thought I could learn some things about music here, which I did, but I also learned about how fun audio engineering can be. I learned a lot thanks to my mentor, Rowan.
What we did in this program was learn about the different types of mics and different techniques to mic up things, like instruments and vocals. We mixed and record music on a program called "Protools". Before we knew what we were doing, we had to learn about EQ's and compressers, etc. We also learned a good way to set up the mics and what the different settings do on the mic. Every Friday there would be am Open Mic. Some of us, the audio apprentice students, would come down and help out with the recordings and setting things up for our client. We also went to other studios like, SLCC South City Campus. It was nice and really amazing to go and see some other studios. They are different than the ones we have at SpyHop.
This really helped me figure out what I would like to do for my future career, but I am still undecided.
